Enjoying Life Is a Full-Time Job

One of my friends replied to a photo I posted from our family vacation:“No doubt you guys know how to enjoy life.”
It was sweet. A total compliment. But let’s be real—enjoying life is work.
First comes the decision.
To choose to enjoy life.Because honestly, we (the Israelis / the inner Polish mom in me) are experts at finding reasons not to.I could list a few right now without even blinking.
But choosing to enjoy this wild ride called life—because yes, it’s fragile, and yes, we all know how short it is—is a conscious decision.
It’s not something that just happens.
There’s pain. There’s fear. There’s grief, anger, noise. And still—we have to get up each day, look ourselves in the mirror (spiritually or literally), and make a choice:To find the joy. To make space for it. Especially when it’s not obvious.
And if, by chance, you can escape reality—even briefly—for something close to joy?Do it. Run toward it. Don’t wait for permission.
So here I am, grateful.
To my parents—Mom and Benny—who took us on a little joy break.
Grateful for the family they created, for the way they choose to live, and for the fact that they bring us along for the ride.
None of it is obvious.
And that’s exactly why it matters so much.
